ADR 32 sheet counting technology

General overview
B.Matic, with over 35 years of experience and more than 7,000 machines delivered o the most important Printers of banknotes and security documents worldwide, invented the ADR 32 counting technology.
The ADR 32 counting head has been designed and built to meet the stringent standards required for counting the currency sheets and the security paper but it is also perfect for commercial printing, converting and packaging applications.
Robust. The ADR 32 counting heads have never had a mechanical group breakage.**
Technological. Electronics with PLC, Touch Panels, Industrial Inverters with fiber optic counting and level sensors.

ADR 32 compared to Pin and Blade system
• It does not curl the corner. ADR 32 No Curling System with the planar movement from top to bottom of the double suction blades very similar to the manual gesture, has solved the problem of the Pin and Blade system, which bends the edges due to the Pin which like a satellite revolves around the Blade.
• It does not soil the sheets ADR 32 has greatly reduced the problem of ink transfer on both the upper and lower sides of the sheets caused by the Pin which rotates around the Blade like a satellite.
• Quick settings With the ADR 32 Easy Clips system it is possible to replace the counting plates in a few seconds without unscrewing screws and without using spanners or Allen keys. In Pin and Blade counting technologies, tools must be used which require more complex operations and much longer times.
• It does not press down on paper. Thanks to the ADR 32 Motorized level system, the counting head controlled by a sophisticated motorized system is positioned delicately on the sheets without damaging them from the beginning to the end of the ream. On the contrary, the Pin and Blade system supports the stack by weight on the suction blade and consequently the weight increases according to the height of the stack.
• Fast, up to 3,000 sheets per minute and even with the Tab-Inserter the speed decrease is very little.
• Versatile The ADR 32 Wide Thickness Range System is the only machine that can count up to 800GSM* and for this reason it houses a 16 m2/h* pump inside. The Pin and Blade system, on the other hand, reaches up to a maximum of 255 GSM.
• Tape Saving System ADR 32 uses 6 cm long but clearly visible red separation tabs instead of the 15 cm long white or green tabs used by other competing systems which consequently consume the reels two times faster.
• The ducts do not clog. The dust present in the sheets tends to accumulate in the filters and clog the ducts; to avoid this problem the suction tubes have a double section area with respect to competing systems, requiring therefore less maintenance.

ADR 32 compared to Disc system
• It does not scratch, ADR 32 No Scratch System with the planar movement from top to bottom of the double suction blades very similar to the manual gesture has solved the problem of the Disc which, on the contrary, using a horizontal helix movement enters between the sheets laterally for a few centimeters rubbing the surface of the sheets. This can cause scratches especially in the presence of fresh printing and on plastic sheets.
• It is not necessary to clean it frequently. ADR 32 Ink Cleaning Free System does not accumulate ink on the counting hands and has therefore solved the problem of the Disc system which, by sliding on the sheets, forces maintenance personnel to frequently disassemble it to clean it and remove the accumulated ink.
• Bent Corners Detection. In the security industry, Corner Counting detects any bent and damaged corners, unlike some disk systems that count on the edge.
• Fast. ADR 32 counts up to 3000 sheets per minute which, associated with reduced start-up times, do not fear comparison with the disk system. Theoretically the Disc is faster in counting, but comparing the counting cycle times, real productivity is practically identical.
• Quickly adjusted. With the ADR 32 Easy Clip system you can replace the counting plate in a few seconds without unscrewing screws and without using spanners or Allen keys. In the disc counting system it is necessary to use tools that force more complex operations and with longer times that cannot be carried out by untrained operators.
• Reduction of accidental risks. ADR 32 avoids accidental risks during ordinary maintenance. If a counting plate is dropped, it can be picked up and reassembled, while if a disc is dropped, it almost certainly needs to be replaced and is not cheap.
• It does not press down on paper. With ADR 32 Motorized Level System the counting head controlled by a sophisticated motorized system is positioned delicately on the sheets without damaging them from the beginning to the end of the ream, unlike other counting systems which rest on the ream increasing consequently the ream weight.
• Versatile The ADR 32 Wide Thickness Range System is the only machine that can count paper, cardboard and plastic up to 800GSM*, which is why it houses a 16 m2/h* pump inside. The Disc system, on the other hand, reaches up to a maximum of 500GSM.
• The ducts do not clog. The dust present in the sheets tends to accumulate in the filters and clog the ducts; to avoid this problem the suction tubes have a double section area with respect to competing systems, requiring therefore less maintenance.

The OCS Technology for friction feeders

Further to an in depth analysis associated with a 25 years long experience, B.Matic has invented the new friction feeder with OCS (Opposing Cantilever Shafts) technology (patent pending). This technology, besides an excellent performance, delivers a solution for a few technical issues  affecting the friction feeders presently on the market.
1. Solves the problem of the periodical replacement of the friction belts subject to wear and of the feeding belts, simplifying the task and cutting  down times and does not require specialized technicians.
2. Allows quick adjustment to product width, shifting by turning one single knob all the mechanical separating assembly, (including all the rollers, belts, et cetera ) cutting substantially the set-up time.
3- Perfect parallelism. The twin opposing signaling mechanical assemblies are adjusted independently, keeping their parallel position even dealing with non uniformly thick sheets.
Mechanics have been realized for industrial use with the latest technologies and CNC precisions actually available; all parts have been protected with surface treatments,
all axial motions, realized on hardened ball recycling guideways, all adjustment are guided by graduated scales.

A key feature of the F320 friction feeder / counter is the effectivness in sheets separation. This is achieved by a mechanical gears system that runs the ejection belts at higher speed than the feeding belts thus "snatching" the sheet form the next one and creating a gap beteen them. This ability to separate the sheet is key to the friciton feeders
and friciton counters.

The DUAL SYSTEM Technology

The PROTEC paper counters and sheets counters line is equipped with the new mechanical counting head, realised on DUAL SYSTEM technology, which is based on the presence of a couple of aspiration plates. Counting is not done through optical devices or statistical calculations, instead sheets are physically counted one by one.

DUAL SYSTEM paper counting technology is unique because:

1 - Sheets are counted from the top downwards. Once counted, sheets are taken away from the top of the stack rather than from the bottom. This way, the operator counts as many sheets as he needs, making the job easier.
2- The sheet counter can support a wide range of paper weights (from 40GSM to 500-800GSM approx)
3-  Curling up of corners, a typical problem with traditional paper counters  (especially with paper over 100GSM) is eliminated or extremely reduced.
4- Marks, scratches or signs of ink on recent prints are practically imperceptible or extremely reduced if compared to traditional paper counting systems.
5- Changeover between different material weights is performed quickly and easily by manually removing the small plastic plates. No tools are necessary. Average time: 30 seconds. This means granting the maximumproduction capacity of the machine.

The DUAL SYSTEM technology is installed on:

- all PROTEC and PROTEC MINI paper counters and sheets counters

- all PROTEC PACK MOVERS sheets counting equipment.

DOUBLE RIBBING Technology

The DOUBLE RIBBING technology is one of the core elements for our sheets counters working.

A double ribbing is impressed on the tabs, so that they come out straight from the beginning to the end of the tape: it makes it possible to use thinner paper (80GSM), granting a compact external diameter of the roll and twice the autonomy of common roll.

The PACK MOVER, a new system to count directly from the pile

PACK MOVER line allows sheets counting directly from the pile eliminating the load /unload problem typical of traditional paper counters. The input pile is automatically aligned to the counting head.
It is the latest evolution of PROTEC line, physically counting the paper sheets one by one with the versatility, precision and reliability of DUAL SYSTEM. technology.
All PACK MOVERs count directly from the pile and pick the counted pack to lay it on a conveyor.
They may automatically feed the following in line steps: cutting, binding and packaging.
Or they can perform additional tasks, such as optical verifications, front and back covers insertion, saddle stitching, and film wrapping.
It is the ideal solution for those needing to count and batch big quantities of sheets to be finished and packaged.
